I’ve browsed through the work of Mr. Mellett quite a bit, and I’m so impressed by his subtle elegance and beautiful use of color. The Irish-born designer moved from the fashion industry into interior, furniture and product design a few years ago.

I often find it hard to imagine people living in spaces that have been professionally photographed, but these very much feel like they want to be lived in, and like they belong to real, sophisticated people. I adore the look of the cotton drapes, the light, unfinished woods and the unexpected use of salvaged material. (The two French armchairs in the first photo are upholstered in fabric from vintage laundry bags!)  These are some of my favorite images from the website.
