a beautifully renovated home

Swedish designer Marie Olsson Nylander and her husband gutted this 1970’s villa into a cozy home for themselves and their children.

The house is full of objects bought at bargain shops, great art pieces and treasures from their travels, all mixed in with casual furniture, fun punches of color and lots of comfort. I really like when you can sense that a family lives in a home from the photos that are published. This certainly embodies that kind of space. What they’ve done is actually quite straight-forward. They kept the entire envelope of the house very neutral and then inserted all the great objects that bring color and texture into the house. You can tell that all of theses things have taken years to collect. My faves, the subtle mix of mid-century furniture, the acrylic chairs against the reclaimed wooden desk, and how great is that iron staircase?!
